Clara Heflin

MEDORA-  Clara Roberta Heflin, 77, died at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Jerseyville on Aug. 1, 1938, the only child born to John & Doris Irene (Grizzle) Cunningham.  In her own words, "I had the love of my parents and may namesake, my great grandmother, Clara Platto.She graduated from Jersey Community High School, and worked at Owens-Illinois and Mead Packaging,and later in life became a real estate agent with Homes of America Realty in Jerseyville.She married Lloyd Heflin on Oct. 1, 1988 in Lake Ozark, Mo., and together they were blessed with 26 years together before his death on Nov. 7, 2014.Surviving are a step daughter, Holly Heflin of St. Louis, Mo.; cousins, Jeanne & Paul Steinkuehler of Medora, Kathryn & Wilson Williams of Jerseyville, Charlotte & Raymond Campbell of Jacksonville, Vicki & Terry Trusty of Carrollton, Edna Ringhausen of Jerseyville, Denise Zimmerman and Elaine of St. Charles, IL., and Jonathan Zimmerman of Sycamore; two aunts, Phyllis Bradfisch of Wood River and Theda Jones of Jerseyville; brothers in law & sisters in law, Gary & Michele Heflin of Edwardsville, Jack & Sharon Heflin of Bethalto, and Gail & Larry Hausman of Godfrey; and some very special neighbors, John & Dana Wagner and Jim & Kim Chestney of Medora; along with her beloved canine companion, her Shih Tzu, Kujo.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.. Thursday.Burial will be in the Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey alongside her beloved husband and parents.Memorials may be given to the Riverbend Humane Society in Jerseyville.
