Scott Randall Somlar, 54 received eternal peace at 11:40pmMonday, March 14, 2016 at Christian Northeast Hospital. Scott wasborn February 14, 1962 in Alton, the son of the late Claude Somlar Jr.and Delores Somlar–Griffin.Big Scott graduated Alton High School where he was an exceptionalfootball player. He was recruited by and attended the University ofIllinois and played in the 1984 Rose Bowl game against UCLA.Scott never lost his love of college and pro football and basketball. Hewas a staunch St. Louis Rams fan. Scott also loved movies anythingelectronic.Scott relocated to Bloomington, IL and was employed with Diamond-Star Motors for 15 years. He later moved back to the St. Louis areaand was employed with the Hazelwood School District.He was preceded in death by his father Claude Somlar Jr. Grandparents Claude Sr. and Adline Somlar and Niles and Olga Collier.Surviving in addition to his former wife Marsha (Dodd) Somlar are hisdaughter Jolene; Sons Jerome, Jordan and Jermaine; GrandsonsJahmari, Damien, and Ah’Shawn all of Bloomington, IL. His loving anddevoted Mother Delores Somlar-Griffin. Uncle and Aunt Charles andNellie Collier. Siblings Stuart Somlar Sr., Steven Somlar, Shelly Somlar-Manning and Sean Somlar. Nephews Stuart Somlar,Jr., Maddox andMayzen. Uncle Scott’s biggest little fan Keith Somlar.Especially, Scott’s very special friend Gwen Handley. All the cousinsfrom Alton, E. St Louis, Tallahassee and friends and football buddiesacross the US. We all miss you Scotty Rand!
