Viola May Baughman, 92, of East Alton, IL, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Thurs. Mar. 24, 2016 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL.
She was born May 14, 1923 in Carrollton, IL to the late Ignatius & Anna (Behen) Sethaler.
On Aug. 12, 1944, she and Lawrence W. “Wayne” Baughman were married in Shreveport, LA. He preceded her in death on Mar. 9, 2010.
Mrs. Baughman had worked for Olin, Venture & Famous Barr throughout her life. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include: 2 daughters, Charlene (Roger) Joyce of Punta Gorda, FL and Jan (Mark) Strickland of Rosewood Heights, IL, daughter-in-law, Janice Baughman of Wood River, IL, 4 grandchildren, Jason (Chelsea) Baughman, Kip Joyce, Chad (Jackie) Joyce & Lauren Strickland, 4 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Fynn, Harper & Trent and a brother, Henry Sethaler of Caseyville, IL.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: a son, Richard L. Baughman, 3 sisters, Helen Tuey, Rosemary Hansen & Martha Hardwick and 5 brothers, Norbert, Leo, Louis, Charles & Bernard Sethaler.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m .until 10:30 a.m. Mon. Mar. 28, 2016 at Paynic Home for Funerals. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. James Flach as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to O.S.F. St. Anthony’s Hospice or Masses.
