Gloria Farneti

Bethalto 06/01/2024

Gloria Mae Alma (Heeren) Farneti, 92, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2024.

Gloria was born May 22, 1932 at home on her family’s farm in Edwardsville, IL to Clarence and Alma (Schoenbaum) Heeren.

She married the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Dominic Farneti, on March 9, 1951 while he was home on leave from serving in the US Army in the Korean War. She anticipated moving to town when Tony completed his service in the Army, but his desire was to farm, so that is what they did. She was an intelligent woman, always by his side and supported him in all endeavors. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2001.

Gloria was a wife, mother, sister, homemaker, friend and farmer. She attended many Army reunions after Tony’s death and cherished those friendships. She got enjoyment from her flowers and cooking and could put a meal together on a moment’s notice. Tony and Gloria loved family and friends and hosted many gatherings. They had five children and she loved them and their spouses all very much. She not only loved her children but loved others’ children as well. The grandchildren and their friends called her “Grammy” and her great-grandchildren named her “MaNeti”. She was blessed with a kind soul and a grateful heart. Whatever you called her, she was loved by many.

Gloria is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Janet (Wm Mike) Wiemers of Bethalto, IL, Sandra (Steve) Corsetti of Odessa, FL, Lynn (Tim) Donohue of Valley Park, MO, and Karen (Floyd) Collins of Carlinville, IL. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Aaron (Kara) Wiemers, Brian (Christina) St. Clair, Christopher Tischner, Ciarra (Paul) Ceisler, Cody and Cory Farneti, Elizabeth (Tony) Bertram, and August Collins, as well as her great-grandchildren, Charley and Andrew Wiemers, Harbor St. Clair, Colesen Ferratto, Caiya Ciesler and other nieces and nephews.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony (Tony) Dominic Farneti; a granddaughter, Toni Mae Collins; a grandson, Lucas Andrew Wiemers; and her son, Michael Anthony Farneti. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold (Edna-Eileen) Heeren and Virgil (Caroline Farneti) Heeren; a sister-in-law, Mary Loveless; a nephew, Lance Loveless; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Armida (Robert) Voss.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be held on June 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Lori Schafer officiating.

Burial to immediately follow at Moore Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.
