Carl A. “Herbie” Herbstreit, 70, passed away at 6:02 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 after a strong battle against cancer.
Carl was a U.S. Army veteran who retired from Laclede Steel in Alton. He served on the board for Laclede Credit Union for many years. He loved to camp and fish.
Carl was born on March 4, 1946 in Alton to Arthur and Winifred Herbstreit.
Carl leaves behind his soulmate, Vicki Reeder, his children Duane & Terri Herbstreit; and Tracy & Frank Zarantonello; his grandchildren Tara & Brad Pickett, Michael & Heather Wallace, Jessica Zarantonello, Rochelle & David Waters, Frankie Zarantonello, Robert Herbstreit, Ali Herbstreit, Josh Herbstreit, Kaylee Herbstreit and many great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 25 at Paynic Home for Funerals in East Alton from 10 a.m. until services begin at 12 noon. According to his wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in his honor.
