Connie Dierking

Connie Sue Dierking, 73, passed away at 3:34 p.m., Sunday, June 16, 2024 at her home in Jerseyville, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on August 23, 1950 in Carrollton, Illinois to the late Estel and Alberta (Cummings) Young, and graduated with the Class of 1968 from Jersey Community High School.

Connie married Joseph Gregory Dierking Sr. on June 12, 1971 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville and together they were the proud parents of three children, sharing in many wonderful memories together throughout their 41 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2013.

Connie was employed at the Jerseyville Wal-Mart for many years, where she retired as Assistant Store Manager. It was that of being a loving wife, devoted mother and proud and doting grandmother, however, that Connie centered her life around. Family meant everything to her, and she cherished the memories shared with her parents, siblings, cousins and her many friends, who became an extension of her family.

Surviving are three children and their spouses, Joseph Gregory Dierking Jr. and his wife, Angie, of Hodges, Alabama, Michelle and Ronald Woolsey of Jerseyville and Craig Dierking and his wife, Nicole, of Freeburg; twelve grandchildren, Katie Breaux, Colleen Jones, Kimie Lancaster, Cameron Dierking, Chris Woolsey, Cheyenne Lott, Damien Woolsey, Tiffany Woolsey, Shelby Woolsey, Austin Woolsey, Caroline Dierking and Lydia Dierking; eleven great grandchildren; a sister and brother in-law, Lynda and Bob Ray of Jerseyville; as well as a “bonus sister”, Donna Holcomb of Florida.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Estel Young Jr.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2024 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
