Jerry Don Van Hooser, 81, of Alton, IL, died at his residence on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 2:38 am. He was born April 2, 1943, in Whitwell, TN to Ernest L. Van Hooser & Lucille Pennington Van Hooser. He married Frances G. (Russell) Van Hooser on June 19, 1963 in Waterloo, IL. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2008. He was a material man for Dome Railway Services in Wood River, IL for over 30 years. Jerry was a veteran of the US Navy after having served on the USS Albany. He enjoyed Nascar, dirt track racing, doing the jitterbug and he was very creative with duct tape. Jerry is survived by his children, Audrey Faye Ussery, Karen(Jeff) Brown, Tina Van Hooser, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, Ruth (Ron) Wayland and Pat Posey. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, son, Ronnie "Dean" Van Hooser, Billy Don (Becky) Van Hooser, siblings, Monk Ecker, Betty, Louis Van Hooser, Joe Bill Van Hooser and Barbara Posey. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11 am at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL. Anyone wishing to send an online condolence may do so at www.kravanyafuneral.com.
