Robert Black

Robert Loren Black Jr., 29, passed away unexpectedly at 5:37 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2024, at his residence.

He was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on March 10, 1995 and was the son of Robert Loren Black Sr. and Lori O’Toole.

He grew up in both Jerseyville and the Bethalto/Wood River areas and went on to continue his education at at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey and spent his working career in the Construction industry.

Whether you knew him as Robert, Rob, Beeg or B.J., even the smallest of interactions with him left a lasting impression.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, and especially enjoyed hiking, camping and riding dirt bikes. He also enjoyed RC Cars, and had developed quite the collection of them throughout the years. He had a deep love and passion for music, a trait he inherited from his father. Music brought him peace, and he would oftentimes spent hours just cruising down the road and listening to his favorite tracks.

Family was also very important to him, and he was a self-proclaimed “Mama’s Boy”. His passing will leave an immeasurable hole in the hearts of all who loved and knew him.

Surviving are his parents, Bobby Black of Godfrey and Lori O’Toole of Jerseyville; grandparents, David and Paula (Flynn) Baumgartner; aunts and uncles, Shelly (O’Toole) and Chris Sullivan, Amitie Flynn, Brooke (Baumgartner) and Shawn Wallace; as well as numerous cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Zoann Black and Marilyn “Midge” O’Toole.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of Family Eulogy at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
