William “Bill” E. Schaaf, 87, of Brighton, passed away on Friday June 14, 2024, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born on June 9, 1937, in Jerseyville. One of six children born to William A. and Lucille (Calame) Schaaf.
On July 26, 1958, Bill married Joann Busch in Jerseyville. They cherished 50 wonderful years of marriage prior to her passing.
Bill and Joann enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson, MO. He liked to garden, mow, play basketball and play softball.
He retired from Olin Winchester Shipping after 39 years. Bill also worked at Central Hardware and at Walmart for almost 20 years.
He is survived by two daughters, LaVonne Zibrida and Wilann (Bill) Eyers; three grandsons, Dustin Zibrida, James (Sarah) Eyers, and Benjamin Eyers; three great grandchildren, Olivia, Ruthie, and Daniel Eyers; sister, Evelyn Randolph; sister in law, June Niehaus; Sister and brother in Law, Dorene (Johnnie) Sullivant; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend Patsy Moore and her family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters and brothers in law John Randolph, Marie (Dobie) Whitley, Edith (Robert) Young, Phyllis (Elba) Gansz, Ruth Ann Pike, and Johnny Niehaus.
Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of funeral service at noon on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
Burial will follow at Miles Station Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Piasa for Christmas Boxes.
