Scotty Browning

Hardin 06/27/2024

Scotty A. Browning, 50, beloved father, husband, Pa, brother, uncle, son and friend unexpectedly passed away on June 27, 2024. He was born in Andrews, Texas to the late Becky Cardinal and Bill Browning. His love of music began in high school where he was the drum major at Denver City High School and played drums in college. He met his first wife, Kim Brassfield, while living in Denver City, TX and were blessed with a son, Grant Browning. Scotty joined the Air Force in March of 1994 and was stationed at Vandenberg, CA, then Lackland Air Force Base. He was assigned to Fort Leonard Wood, MO as an instructor. He met his current wife and soul mate while stationed there. After a tour in Korea, Scotty was assigned at USAFE, at Ramstein Air Force Base. Pam and Scotty welcomed Paige and Paxton into their lives at Landstuhl, Germany. Scotty had many assignments after this where he met many wonderful people whose lives he touched with his charisma.

Scotty retired from the military in March of 2013, during his time in the service he achieved the highest enlisted position as a CMSgt. He was welcomed to the Calhoun Community by his wife’s family. He joined the Calhoun Community after his retirement and became ingrained in several different organizations and clubs to include the American Legion Post 636, the Calhoun Entertainment Company, and local DJ celebrity. His passion with music was displayed as a DJ at The Palace, for several weddings, proms and many junior high dances. As a member of the Cryptkickers, he and his son, Paxton, performed at several events in the community. Scotty had such a love for music, he unselfishly volunteered with the Calhoun High School Band for several years and then ultimately was the high school band director from 2023 to 2024. Scotty absolutely loved this job and how he was able to influence the students. He prided himself in giving the best performance at his youngest son, Paxton’s graduation, this past May. He LOVED Taylor Swift, but mostly he loved keeping up with the latest TS information with his daughter, Paige. Scotty was blessed with a grand daughter, Katie, who filled his heart. He was constantly looking for the next time he could go see her and telling us how he HAD to hold her the next visit, since he didn’t get to the last time. We all knew he held her constantly at the last visit. Scotty was blessed with Raiden, a bonus son, who was ingrained in the Browning family. For several years, many trips were taken to Uvalde, TX to spend Thanksgiving with his only sister, Becky and her family. It was a week of watching football, get your guns up! He also enjoyed playing with his nephews’ kids, which he could not get enough of.

Scotty was an animal lover and could never tell Pam no when another dog or cat showed up. For those that have visited the house, it’s a farm for sure with all the dogs, cats, goats, sheep and chickens. He loved to go out and feed the sheep!
Many people got to know Scotty when he became engrossed with the Calhoun Entertainment Company (CEC). His first role was Mal in the Adams Family. He went on to star in many other musicals. The other roles he had were: Fagan in Oliver, the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, Fred in Chicago, Captain Hook in Peter Pan, Vince Fontaine in Grease, Sebastian in the Little Mermaid, and Joe Mantello in 9 to 5.
Scotty was blessed to work with a great group of people at FedHarmony with several Air Force veterans that he served with. He was the smartest and applied his wealth of knowledge to help make the business a success.

Scotty was survived by his wife of 23 years, Pam Browning; their children Grant (Jacie) Browning of Amarillo, TX, Paige (Wil) Browning, Paxton Browning, and Raiden Brassfield of Amarillo, TX, and granddaughter, Katie Rose; father, Bill Browning of Midland, TX; sister Becky (Randy) Reinhardt of Uvalde, TX; brother, Roy (Sue) Abney of Jacksonville, FL; brother Billy (Vicki) Browning of Midland, TX; Parents-in-law, Gene and Ilona Breden of Hardin, IL; sister in law, Trish Stelbrink; brother in law Peter (Kendra) Breden; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
