Randall Eugene Knight, 70, died at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at his residence. He was born May 22, 1954 in McLeansboro, IL, the eldest son of the late John Madison and Geraldine (Smith) Knight. A devoted father and grandfather, he always sought to make his loved ones laugh. He was a member of Abundant Life Church in Alton, worked for many years as a salesman with Sears and Feld Chevrolet, served as assistant director at Teen Challenge, but at heart he was a musician. He was a self-taught guitarist and strong vocal lead for the bands Troop, Take That and Scarlet Macaw and traveled with the Marty Tharp gospel band. Surviving is his daughter, Kirsten Knight of Maryville, IL, three grandchildren, Esme, Dagny, and Vivienne, two sisters, Gala Mathenia (Randy) of Godfrey and Lisa Heineman (Danny) of Bethalto and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, John D. Knight. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at Upper Alton Cemetery, 2090 Oakwood Ave, Alton IL 62002, entrance located off Homer Adams Pkwy and Golf Rd. Reverend C.R.
