James McDonough

James "Jack" E. McDonough, Jr., 85, of Bethalto, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 4:13 pm.

He was born in Wood River, IL, on June 19, 1938, the son of James E. and Wilma (Caffery) McDonough, Sr. Jack married Rosemary Schoeneweis on February 15, 1957, at the First Church of God in Meadowbrook. She survives.

Jack worked as a mold maker at Owens Illinois for 38 years, until his retirement in February of 1993. He was a member of Meadowbrook First Church of God, now known as Lifebrook Church of Bethalto. Jack was an avid golfer. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Along with his wife, Rosemary, he is survived by a son, Steven (Debbie) McDonough of Bethalto; a sister and two brothers, Linda (Dave) Durell, Richard (Jean) McDonough, and David (Karen) McDonough; two grandchildren, Jenny (Bryan) Birdsong, and Lori (Brian) Caveny; two great-grandchildren, Isaac Birdsong and Nora Caveny; and a special buddy, David Jordan.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 10 am. Pastor Matt Hale will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
