John Ubben

Staunton 06/23/2024

John Richard Ubben of Staunton, IL, 74, adopted son of John W. and Margaret Luker Ubben passed away at his present home in Carlinville IL on Sunday, June 23, 2024 with his wife Pamela Traylor at his side.  John had an active life in the entertainment industry, playing and singing in local bands which included Kaleidoscope, Forces of Evil, Griffin, SeaDog,  Emerald City and the Bob Kuban band; one of his favorite memories was when he sang the National Anthem before a game at Busch Stadium.  He later worked for Haisler Productions, a booking agency for the St.Louis area music scene.  He played a big part of managing the entertainment for the St. Louis VP Fair in 1982 and then owned his own booking agency for music, comedy, magic, hypnosis and dance groups for the St. Louis and metro areas.  After the popularity of social media took place of booking agents, John closed his business and headed back to his home area, Staunton, getting involved with Jim Marcacci from Gillespie, and the Benld Coliseum Ballroom projects, wrote articles for the local “Buzz” magazine and managed several winning County Officials campaigns.   John is survived by his wife, Pam Traylor, a brother-in-law Todd (Melissa) Traylor, many friends and band brothers.  John will be buried at the Staunton City Cemetery; no public services arranged at this time.  Anyone wishing to send online condolences may contact www.kravanyafuneral.com.  Kravanya Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
